Short video caption
Five-field test receipt: code revision, protected contract version, fresh run identity, relevant case count/verdict, and independent outcome. A green screenshot detached from the patch is UNVERIFIED. Illustrative. #EricFieldNotes
Full written post / accessible read
A code agent can say the tests passed in one sentence. That sentence is hard to audit if nobody knows which revision, acceptance contract or environment it refers to.
Imagine a screenshot of a green CI page copied into a review. The latest patch was pushed afterward. The screenshot is authentic, but it cannot prove the new revision meets the contract. This is an illustrative failure of evidence binding.
Field one is the exact code revision. Two is the protected contract version. Three is a fresh CI run ID and time. Four is the relevant test count and verdict. Five is the independent postcondition readback. Link the fields, then compare them before merge.
Have CI produce and validate those five fields on every consequential patch. Reject stale run IDs, zero cases or missing outside state. Do this because a result only proves the thing whose identity, coverage and observed effect it actually records.
